Universities
Universities are always in constant flux. Existing Universities often have expansions, renovations and repairs happen at odd times,
often with little notice. New Universities often have planned or unplanned expansions, requiring a flexible design from the start. Many buildings have different design requirements
that create havoc with a central plant.
Systecon offers a variety of pumping system designs from VariPrime to profile to distributed pumping
schemes that can solve every type of large campus central plant system. Systecon's team of
Application and Sales Engineers can provide accurate and detailed analysis to help solve any campus
problem.
Spotlight Job
Ave Maria University, a new university in the Naples, Florida area was in need of an efficient and flexible cooling system. Since the bottom line was efficiency and flexibility, Systecon designed a VariPrime™ pumping package. A VariPrime™ package is a smart choice because it will not only be efficient, but also very adaptive to changes in load due to additions of more buildings in the future. This VariPrime™ system would satisfy their current needs, with a lower first cost, while also preparing them for additional load requirements. With the possible addition of a second chiller plant on the north side of campus, Systecon designed both plants to be used with a profile pumping scheme. One chiller plant will satisfy a major portion of the load, or base load, while the other chiller plant will trim the load. This scheme is more efficient than running both chiller plants equally. Also since there would be a tremendous amount of head to send water out to far buildings, Systecon designed booster packages. This makes it easier on the main pumps located near the chiller plant.
This project exemplifies the efficiency and flexibility built into Systecon pumping packages.
