K-12 Schools
Many school development projects face the same problems: not enough money,
not enough space, and too much time for error. A Systecon pump package for all
of the schools' HVAC services (chilled, hot, condenser, geothermal) will allow
the engineer to consolidate these services into a small footprint, and still
allow serviceability and fully integration to any building automation system.
Since almost every school is a public bid open to all vendors, the pump package
design allows both the engineer and end-user to get some commonality of design
from one project to the next. And, with every system fully tested at Systecon's
factory, the engineer, contractor, maintenance personnel and even school board
members can pre-commission the crtical central plant system before it is ever
installed.
Spotlight Job
The Milford school district in Cincinnati, Ohio was in need of chilled and hot water packages for a large school development project. This project included four new K-6 elementary schools, called "neighborhood schools". Each school was built at the same time so future build out was not a concern. The concern was being able to efficiently provide hot and chilled water to aide in heating and air conditioning multiple areas of the school. Each school included a thirty computer lab room, full library, gymnasium, and auditorium. This development was part of the Ohio School Facility Commissions Projects.
Since Systecon needed to follow the Ashrae 90.1 standard of efficiency it was deemed appropriate to build four identical VariPrime™ chilled and hot water systems for each school. Each package included a two pump, 384 GPM hot water system, and a two pump, 600 GPM chilled water system.
Each VariPrime™ package met the Ashrae 90.1 standard, and the client was pleased with the result.
