No. There is the perception that a factory built package is more expensive than a field built system. However, many times the pumping package is only viewed as a mechanical skid. A Systecon pumping package is a water management system that incorporates four separate trades, structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls. The Systecon package typically includes a structural base, pipe supports, pumps, piping, valves, air separators, expansion tanks, piping specialties, motor starters, VFD's, electrical wiring, a control panel, DP sensors and pressure transducers. So, when all of these trades are considered, the factory built system is NOT more expensive than the traditional field built pumping system.
For the components that are supplied on the package, Systecon has excellent buying power with the various equipment suppliers. We buy large quantities of pumps, piping, valves, VFD's, etc. that allow us to get very competitive pricing on all of these components. Since the pumping packages are custom built, we deal with many different suppliers on a regular basis. Again, this allows us to receive consistent competitive pricing from a variety of equipment vendors.
The controlled factory environment allows us to construct our packages very efficiently, reducing the time required to build them. We are not hindered by any unseen sight conditions that can delay the construction process as is the case many times in field built pumping systems. Systecon's labor rate is also very competitive. Systecon uses Midwestern labor rates of $40/hr. This is very competitive when compared to most of the labor rates throughout the US. |
